I was fortunate to visit the Houses of Parliament recently and had a fascinating look behind the scenes courtesy of my MP and his assistant. It was the day of the Autumn Budget statement which followed Prime Minister’s Questions, so there was quite a buzz around the place.
A couple of things struck me; there were more women and more younger MP’s than on my last visit in the 1980s, and it also made me think there’s no substitute for hearing what the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition et al actually say rather than reading about it or watching through the filter of 24/7 rolling news and social media.
